Its documented in the V3 developer guide...and i also ignored it...until I encountered the problem. Each time Visual Studio hang i terminated the session until the third day when I decided to leave it overnight...and next morning i saw the "out of memory error" and my google friend helped me to point back to this documented setting. Ur way ahead of us...here.
